"Towards
a Digital Society"
The
principal objective of the I International Forum e-Panama is to
offer the participants to broaden their knowledge with respect to
outlooks and chalenges that are confronted regarding the utilization
of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for socio-economic
development in our countries as well as to gain specific information
about the experiences of some countries in the Americas, Europe
and Asia in their digital programs, including e-government programs.
This
Forum also gives the opportunity to evaluate the conditions and
perspectives for adopting a Connectivity Agenda that will effectively
reduce the international and national digital divide.
The
I International Forum e-Panama will also take the opportunity to
evaluate and incorporate the Declaration of Principles and the Action
Plan of The World Summit on the Information Society, held in Geneva,
Switzerland, December 2003.
This
event will allow the broadening and deepening of the priorities
which governments should adopt to face the challenges, in order
to achieve advances toward the Information Society and the Knowledge
Economy.
The
Forum is oriented towards high level government officials involved
in the utilization, access and application of Information and Communication
Technologies (ICTs), and to researchers, entrepreneurs, and academics
involved in this subject.
